These tasty antioxidant-rich treats are ideal for the health-conscious snacker.
It’s been a great month for Gold Coast’s own functional food geniuses, Morlife, taking out the overall award recently at the Food and Beverage Industry Awards for Confectionery of the Year; Dark Chocolate Coated Blueberries. It’s ironic that functional food manufacturer/ health advocator Morlife would take out the Confectionery of the Year award - but for good reason!
Morlife Owner and Founder, Dr Warren Stewart, says, “We understand chocolate is an indulgence, but sometimes we all need is a touch of indulgence in our lives! By changing the ‘dark chocolate to blueberry’ ratio (60% dark chocolate to 40% blueberry) it’s been a real winner for us. We have had an influx of positive feedback from customers!”
“It’s important for us to connect with consumers as they are the ones we want happy. There was a need for a more innovative and functional snack, therefore we changed the recipe. Simply said, without our loyal consumers we of course wouldn’t be where we are today”.
Well-known for their antioxidants, blueberries were the perfect addition to team with cacao to provide a delicious snack. Consumers are more conscious about what they put in their bodies and are looking for more purposeful snacks; straying away from empty sugar-loaded snacks. Wellbeing is becoming more and more achievable as consumers make smarter choices when buying food.
“We are so happy to see our hard work and dedication being recognised. We couldn’t be happier because we still have so many exciting products on track to be released this year” Stewart said. With the release of six new products (and more to come) the functional food wizards have really taken 2016 by the horns! These include Cacao Bliss, Chai’Q Latte, two new Chia Pudding flavours, Thai Green Curry Quinoa Risotto and Alkaline Greens.
“Morlife’s core is research. It’s our job to develop functional food products which ultimately lead to wellness and allow consumers to get more out of life”. It’s the continuous push for innovation and research which makes Morlife the leaders in functional foods in Australian and around the world.
